Two Year Anniversary …. reflections from Founder
June 26, 2009 in Uncategorized by Latinos A Morir
Wow. Two years have gone by and I’m still organizing social networking events for professional individuals. Probably the driving force for me to continue is the support and requests from members to continue these type of events: parties, dinners, day trips, fundraisers. The events bring professionals together who love Latin American culture.
Latinos A Morir grew from my group of friends to 2,600 members in two years. It is still unreal to me as I write this… but I realize the benefits of a large yet intimate off-line social network for Latino professionals and lovers of Latino culture.
Latino Professionals were once considered a VERY small group of individuals. However, as Latinos become more educated, create a network, and help each other, we have been growing at a tremendous rate. At least in San Francisco, and other parts of the US, there is no centralized place, offline or online, where Latinos can congregate and grow their network — and if there is, please share it with me.
One of Latinos A Morir’s goals is to create a network and a centralized “place” where people can connect at a more personal level. We plan to do this via intimate and large events, like in the past year.
One of my favorite events was the Wine Country Tour. There were 35 members that had never met with different backgrounds, professions, and interests. Yet as the day progressed, people started to bond and connect. Out of this event, there were new friendships, new romantic relationships, and new business relationships. Imagine … this is just one event!
Another event I really enjoyed was Carnaval at Supperclub. We had 500+ guests dancing, singing, and really enjoying an amazing positive energy. The beauty about these type of events is that people from all walks of life come to listen to music they grew up with, meet people that share a commonality, and everyone is respectful. To take a look at the vibrant energy, check out our Carnaval video.
Both of these events represent what Latinos A Morir values: intimacy, positive energy, networking, professionalism, respect. I hope that Latinos A Morir continues to grow and the same values are maintained throughout the growth.
Thank you all for your support of this organization, and I hope you continue to enjoy attending the events as much as I enjoy organizing them.
