LAM NY
Ernesto Castañeda was born in Mexico City and went to college at UC Berkeley. The first LAM parties ever were organized at his house. He made sure to prepare everything for the party as well as to invite different kinds of people from his varied social circles. The Latinos were the last ones to stop dancing, but Ernesto never thought that the Latino contingent among his friends would be so explosive! Giovanni then organized a "churrasco" at his house the same weekend. After a couple of parties and other informal gatherings organized by both of them, LAM was alive!

Ernesto believes that partying and socializing together is the best way to dispel with stereotypes and misconceptions regarding immigrants, natives and foreigners and people from different backgrounds. So remember, if you are not “Latino” you are more than welcome to our events.

Ernesto is a Doctoral Candidate at Columbia University in NY. He is currently conducting fieldwork in France and in the U.S. for his dissertation on comparative migrant political mobilization among Latinos in the U.S. and Arabs in France.
