Following the passion of World Cup, we decided to bring the competition to the Bay Area. For one day only, join LAM members and friends in a friendly tournament of Futbol!

Either come as a player or as a spectator to have fun in the park under the sun (hopefully!). If you plan to come as a player, please register below, if you plan to come as a spectator, please RSVP using the Websites system.

Register a team of 4 players or register as a free agent to participate. We hope to have at least 8 teams to make it interesting!

Each player will have to pay $5 to play. Second place team will take $40 and the winning team will take the rest.

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE

1. Hopefully we have 8 teams of 4 players per team. You can create your own team prior to the event or you can sign-up as a free agent and we will pair you with a team.
2. We will draw team names, and insert teams in order of the numeric seeding, i.e. insert first name into “1″, the second name into “2″, etc. We will seed “expert” teams as top seeds – based on form input. These seedings jump around the bracket to spread evenly through the bracket, giving earlier draws slightly more favorable placement with respect to Byes.
3. If we have less than 8 teams, we will use “Byes”. Empty seeds are “Byes” (For example if you have only 5 teams in an 8-team bracket, 6, 7, and 8 are “Byes). Write in “Bye”, and treat as a player who loses *every* match. If Bye plays Fido, Fido wins and Bye loses. (If Bye plays Bye, then Bye wins *and* Bye loses.)
4. In the first matches of the bracket, we will insert winners’ names to right, losers’ to the left. Subsequently, insert winners to right, and losers from the winners bracket into the indicated slots within the losers bracket. Losers in the losers bracket are eliminated from the tournament, as it is their second loss.
5. The winner of the winners bracket and the winner of the losers bracket play for the championship. Since this is double elimination, the winners bracket winner has not yet lost, so can only be eliminated after two consecutive match losses in the championship. In other words, the winners bracket winner must only win a match once to be champion, the losers bracket winner must win matches twice in a row.

RULES OF THE GAME

1. There can only be four players per team on the field – no goalies allowed except for penalties
2. The size of the field will be decided the day of the event – we will have cones to show side-lines and end-lines
3. The Goal Posts will be defined by cones and the cones will be 5’ apart
4. Height of the “Goal Posts” will be waist height (imaginary) and judged by the players on the field — no arguments.
5. Each game will be two halves of 15 minutes each half. After half-time, teams switch field sides.
6. If game ends in a draw, we will have a 5 minute golden goal extra time.
7. If game still ends in a draw after the extra time, the game will be decided in penalty shoot-out with Goal Posts being 10’ width (defined by cones) and player must shoot from 12 yards (30’) away from goal. The height of the goal posts (imaginary) has to be less than the goalies height. Let players on field decide close calls.
8. Players cannot shoot beyond half-line (if confusing, we’ll explain at the event)
9. NO HANDS.
10. Corner Kicks are allowed
11. No throw-ins, players must kick-it in
12. No offsides rule
13. We will try to have a ref for each game but probably won’t happen. =)
